VISITOR'S CONTROL CENTER/GATE INFORMATION

Planning on visiting your student or family members stationed at Goodfellow AFB?  Here is some important information you will need to know prior to visiting.

VISITOR CONTROL CENTER

The Visitor Control Center (VCC) is located adjacent to the South Gate.  Below are the hours of operation for the VCC.

  • Open Monday – Friday 07:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Closed on the weekends, all Federal Holidays, and Wing Down Days.

When the VCC is closed, visitors can obtain passes at the South Gate (Jacobson Gate).

SPONSOR

You will need someone with a DoD ID card to ‘sponsor’ you to enter the base.  Your sponsor must be present in order for you to receive a pass.

GATE HOURS

Both gates conduct 100% hands-on ID checks. 

North Gate

  • Open Monday – Friday 05:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Closed on the weekends, all Federal holidays, and Wing Down days.

 South Gate (Jacobson Gate)

 Main Entrance

  Open Sunday - Saturday 24 hours 

VISITOR’S PASS AND DOCUMENTS NEEDED

All visitors 16 years of age and older require a visitor’s pass to access the installation.  All visitors that are 10 years of age and older will require to have a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check.  Visitors who do not meet the requirements to enter the installation will be given an Acknowledgement of Base Access Denial Notification letter informing them why they cannot enter Goodfellow AFB.

Visitors who are denied access will be given information on how to file an appeal on the denial.  Denial appeals can take anywhere from a month and a half to three months or longer, depending on the severity of the reason, to receive an answer back.  All requested documentation will be mailed to the 17th Security Forces Squadron, 361 Apache Trail, Goodfellow AFB, TX 76908 or hand delivered to the Visitor Control Center located adjacent to the South Gate.

 DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO OBTAIN A VISITOR'S PASS

All visitors 16 years of age and older must have either a state issued driver’s license or identification (ID) card.  All required documents must be original, valid and unexpired.  Photocopies will not be accepted.   All driver’s license and ID cards cannot contain any of the following markings, “Not Valid for Federal Purposes,” “Not for Use as Federal Identification,” “Federal Limits May Apply,” or any other similar phrase. 

If your state issued driver’s license or ID card does contain any of those markings, then you will need to present another form of identification.  

DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO OBTAIN A VISITOR'S PASS

  • U.S. Passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Permanent resident ID card 

 OTHER ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF IDs

  • Veteran ID card
  • Veteran health identification card
  • (VHIC)
  • Gold star family member ID card  

 INFORMATION SHEET FOR DBIDS PASS

Visitors can fill out an Information Sheet for DBIDS pass prior to coming to Goodfellow AFB.  The information sheet must be filled out legibly by each visitor requesting access, to include those 10 years of age to 15 years of age.   The information provided will be used to check your background as well as issue your pass.
