GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Team Goodfellow and the local community came together for prayer, food and testimonials during the National Prayer Luncheon at the Event Center, March 15.

The luncheon featured prayers from base leaders and gave individuals a chance for spiritual connection.

Guest speaker Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Dondi Costin, Air Force Chief of Chaplains, led the prayers and delivered a sermon.

"One of the things that makes a base community a community is the opportunity we have to get together and so in our Air Force community we have all sorts of opportunities to highlight various facets of who we are as a nation, and who we are as a people,” said Costin. “One of the things that's important is to recognize the importance of faith both in our history and in our present and in our future."

Costin is the senior pastor for more than 664,000 active duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States.

During the lunch, Airmen also gave their personal testimonials about how faith has help them through difficult times.

“My father was in the hospital, he had his second stroke and was diagnosed with cancer,” said Airman Victoria Ramirez, 315th Training Squadron student. “I repeated the Bahai words of ‘I will no longer be full of anxiety nor will I let trouble grasp me’ those words kept me going.”

Goodfellow hosts the National Prayer Luncheon every year. The event is used to honor civilian leaders, military members and Team Goodfellow members.
