GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Goodfellow hosted a volunteer recognition and awards event at the Event Center to celebrate the community service base members have provided over the past year June 1.

Col. Christopher Harris, 17th Mission Support Group commander, and Chief Master Sergeant Bobbie Riensche, 17th Training Wing Command Chief, presented the President’s Volunteer Service Award and the Volunteer Excellence Award.

“I like this event especially because there are people who volunteer for a month or so to look good on a package but this takes a lot of consistency throughout the year,” said Airman 1st Class Anthony Kisiday, 17th Communications Squadron network operations technician. “It feels really awesome to be recognized and get a certificate from the president.”

After the individual awards, Harris was presented with a symbolic check for $447,872 which represented the amount the community has saved through volunteer hours.
