Big changes in store for finance

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Big changes are in store in finance.

First, the government travel card all personnel use while traveling on official business will change. The current travel card contract run by Bank of America will end in November and transition to Citibank. Most individuals at Goodfellow should have already received their travel cards from Citibank. Once received, it is important to verify receipt of the travel card. Verification may be done by phone or online and instructions are included with the card.

The new Citi Card will be ready for use at 1 p.m., Nov. 30. All official travel expenses incurred from that point forward must be charged to the Citi Card.

So what can you expect as a traveler? At the most, for those members TDY over the Nov. 29 - 30 changeover you will have to carry two cards to pay for official travel expenses. Otherwise, services offered by both cards are similar so the only change you should see is the design on the card.

The second change is in how we internally handle your military and travel pay. Beginning in December, the 17th Comptroller Squadron will no longer calculate or process your military and travel pay entitlements. All document processing will be done centrally at the Air Force Financial Services Center located at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.

This process change will not only provide standardized financial transaction processing, but as an additional benefit will provide you with a 24 hour/7 day finance customer service capability. The AFFSC will open its contact center by the time Goodfellow Air Force Base transitions document processing support which will provide round the clock pay access via phone, internet, or email.

Gradually, the contact center will become your first choice for all finance questions.

So what can you expect as a military customer from finance? The same exceptional level of service you currently receive. Local customer service hours will remain the same. You can still stop by to turn in military or travel pay transactions, in-and out-processing, and get help with those difficult finance questions.

You will now have more options available to get your financial questions answered.
