Why We Fight

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Only a very small percentage of Americans have come to know or fully understand what I'm about to tell you. Hopefully, I can do a decent job of helping you "connect the dots" about the true nature of our enemy, the plans they have in store for us and make it crystal clear to you why we can't afford to lose this fight. All this information is taken from open source data, but is rarely tied together or emphasized much by our media or political leadership.

Our most conservative estimates indicate our Islamic enemy is but 15 percent of the world-wide Islamic population. Not much you say? Well, that's 15 percent of 1.6 billion people or 240 million who want America gone! They have a Grand Strategy and a 100-year plan to reestablish an Islamic Caliphate, under Islamic, Sharia law and dominate the world. Far-fetched you say...let's look at some facts: comparative numbers of Christians versus Muslims is tilting in favor of Muslims (25 percent versus 30 percent by 2025 at current birth rate); Islam is growing about 2.9 percent per year, which is faster than the total world population which increases at about 2.3 percent annually; the West's population is top-heavy, (i.e., our ratio of youth to elderly is low; that of Muslim populations is the opposite). The bottom line: as the Muslim population grows, so does the number of "bad guys" comprising that aforementioned 15 percent!

Many do not realize that this is only the latest iteration of an age-old struggle between Western Civilization and Islamic fascism. Some say we have been at war with these vermin since 1979 when Iran unlawfully held Americans hostage for 444 days. Others have said we've been at war with these Jihadists since the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon in 1983. But let's look at the facts of history. What many of us do not realize is Western Civilization has been in a cyclic war with them since the Islamic Moors invaded Christian Spain in April of 711 with a force of 18,000 Jihadists--since then, there have been three cycles of warfare spanning 1,296 years! Osama Bin Laden has referred to us Christians in the west disparagingly as "Crusaders," as if we started this fight or if the term was something to be ashamed of! And so the Islamic extremists and mainstream media would have the world believe. But the truth is the opposite--there would be no Christian Crusades without Islamic aggression in the first place, for the Crusades were in response to Muslim expansion by force to take over Europe, Jerusalem and the Christian Holy Lands. Here's the big picture: in the 16th century, Judaism and Christianity reconciled with the modern world. The rabbis, priests and scholars found a way to reconcile and move forward. Religion remained at the center of life, but church and state became separate. The Rule of law, economic liberty, individual rights and human rights emerged as defining points of modern Western civilization. These concepts started with Ancient Greece but didn't take off until this reconciliation. When that happened, it unleashed the scientific revolution and the greatest outpouring of art, literature and music the world has ever known. Islam has never had their renaissance.

True enough, Islam consists mostly of moderate people, but when the radicals are in charge, Islam invariably attacks Western society. As I mentioned before, Islam first attacked Western civilization in the year 711, and later in the 17th century. By 1683, the Muslim Turks (from the Ottoman Empire) were literally at the gates of Vienna. It was in Vienna that the climactic battle between Islam and Western civilization took place. The West won and went forward. Islam lost and went backward. As a matter of fact, the date of that battle was September 11th--and that is no coincidence. To date, the radicals in Islam have not yet found a way to reconcile with the modern world and, as such, they constitute the most powerful "retrograde" influence in the world today--and until they do reconcile, this cycle of war will not go away. Fact: the history of Islam is a history of violence and provocation. It is the most violent religion on the face of the earth and is the largest practitioner of sexual and racial segregation of any religion in the world. Furthermore, Islam doesn't mean "peace" it means "submission"--and unless you are born into it, statistically speaking, you become part of it by being made to submit to it.
Now, the terrorism cycle we are in is the third attack or "Third Jihad" on Western civilization by radical Islam. To deal with the current cycle of warfare, we are doing two things. First, our armed forces are in 30 countries around the world hunting down terrorist groups and dealing with them. This gets very little publicity. By the way, our Air Force is killing most of these terrorists--more than the other services combined. Second, we are taking military action in Afghanistan and Iraq. This is inundated with media coverage. People can argue about whether the war in Iraq is right or wrong. However, the underlying strategy behind the war is to use our military to remove the radicals from power and give the moderates a chance. Our hope is that, over time, the moderates will find a way to bring Islam forward into the 21st century and reconcile it with Western civilization. That's what our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan is all about. So, let us make no mistake, as some in our society have, that these Islamic-Fascists can be appeased or negotiated with or even treated with dignity--they cannot. They are like Hitler and his Fascist Nazis who plunged the world into our bloodiest war in history--fascists who our fathers and grandfathers have faced, fought and defeated. In characterizing our enemy, Vice President Dick Cheney had it right when he said: "This is an enemy that holds no territory, defends no population, is unconstrained by rules of warfare, and respects no law or morality. They cannot be deterred, contained, appeased or negotiated with; they can only be destroyed--and that is the business at hand."

The Jihadist's nearer-term, tactical objectives are currently in-progress and unfolding before our eyes: (1) Maintain their current safe-haven on Afghan-Pakistani border, (2) develop safe-havens in Syria and Iran, (3) expand safe-havens in African Sahel, (4) expand safe-havens in Somalia & Southeast Asia, (5) establish new safe havens in Latin America, (Note: WorldNet Daily article this past October details how the dictator, Hugo Chavez, in Venezuela is providing Al Qaeda cells with new Hispanic identities and facilitating the flow of Al Qaeda cells across our Southern border), (6) take advantage of our open society to strike when and where they choose. Islamic Fascism's near-to-mid-term strategic objectives are straight forward: (1) continue to advocate jihad all over the globe, (2) get the U.S. and Western influence out of Southwest Asia, (3) overthrow the "apostate" Islamic governments that have compromised and cooperated with the West, (4) gain Weapon of Mass Destruction capabilities, and (5) control the oil resources in Southwest Asia. Finally, the longer term Jihadist goals are to: (1) expand/secure geographical areas currently under Muslim rule/Sharia law into Europe, Africa and Southest Asia (2) continue to establish safe havens in the West, (3) bankrupt and exhaust the US and remaining Western powers, (4) eliminate Israel, (5) reestablish the Caliphate and establish total Sharia Law throughout the globe.

So let us not forget why we serve and why we fight that we may not lose heart if victory seems distant. We shall prevail. The President gave us our marching orders Sept. 20, 2001, when he said: "Great harm has been done to us. We have suffered great loss. And in our grief and anger we have found our mission and our moment. Freedom and fear are at war. The advance of human freedom--the great achievement of our time, and the great hope of every time--now depends on us. Our Nation--this generation--will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause by our efforts, by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail."

America stands in the face of evil and darkness. We are the last, best hope for a freedom of man. We are that "Shining City upon a hill" that Ronald Reagan spoke of and we will not lose hope or faith in that ideal. America is not perfect, but she is still the land of the free and the home of the brave! And let us never forget that. And so, the glorious burden of defending America, and raising the next generation of Airmen to do the same, has fallen upon us. We must stand together in this urgent, sacred duty and not lose sight of this supreme purpose. And lastly, we must ever be mindful not forget the words of warning from The Gipper, Ronald Reagan, who said: "Freedom is never more than one generation from extinction--we didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on to them to do the same. Or, one day, we will spend our sunset years telling our children and children's children what it was once like in the United States when men were free."
