Goodfellow leadership discussed different base facility status and decided to open, expand hours, and permit expanded access starting Sept. 28.

Facilities are opening their doors or altering hours, while still adhering to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mask wear and social distancing guidelines.

Visitor passes can now be submitted by a sponsor, but the visitors are restricted to the housing area, parade ground and parks. Facilities such as the Base Exchange or Commissary will not allow visitors inside.

The Mathis Fitness Center is opening to active duty personnel and their dependents starting Monday, Sept. 28. Retirees and civilians may use the Mathis Beach, the running track, and any other outdoor workout area.

The fitness center will be open 4:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, and holidays. Active duty, guard, and reserve members can access the gym during these hours. Dependents can access the gym Monday through Friday, 8-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. All customers must reserve a time block for 60 minutes via an online app accessible through the QR code found on the accompanying graphic or at the gym.

Some of the preventions and countermeasures with opening the gym include; limited capacity, masks, hand sanitation stations, equipment wiping down, and facility extra cleaning of the provided by gym staff members.

Mask wear in the gym is mandatory except when performing active cardio with social distancing of six feet or more.
