The Goodfellow Events Center joined forces with the Hispanic Heritage Committee May 4 to celebrate the the 145th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla by holding a Cinco de Mayo celebration.

More than 100 people took part in the event, which was designed to provide a festive environment, raise Hispanic cultural awareness and have some wholesome fun on base while celebrating Mexico's victory over the French.
The event featured the disc jockey stylings of Staff Sgt. Marco Puente, a jalapeno-eating contest, Mexican food and a salsa-dancing demonstration.

"I think the event was a great success," said Staff Sgt. Maria Osborn, vice president of the Hispanic Heritage committee. "It was a lot of fun, and we're looking forward to next year's event."
