U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Kyle A. Leggett, 315th Training Squadron student, is the Goodfellow Student of the Month Spotlight for February, a series highlighting exceptional Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.

Senior Airman Joshua Edwards, 17th Training Wing Public Affairs: What led you to join the military?

Leggett: Joining the military was something I debated throughout high school. I didn’t initially join when I first got into college. I knew I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I knew I had a passion for serving my country and the military was a great opportunity to do that. As I explored different options, I decided on the Air Force because of the many opportunities they provided for me.

What has been the most impactful moment in your career so far?

The most impactful moment of my career so far has been the actual commissioning ceremony that I’ve been a part of. Just being side by side my peers as we all stood up there and were actually able to pin on our lieutenant bars was just an amazing experience. The last thing my commander told me, before he passed away the next month, was you’re going to do great things. That was the last thing I ever heard from him.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are ultimate Frisbee, going to the gym, volunteering, watching movies and anything and everything that is fun to do.

What do you want to accomplish during your time here at Goodfellow Air Force Base?

I want to learn a lot. I want to prepare to do my job the best and at the same time I want to care for the people I will lead when I get out of here.

Is there any advice or anything extra you would like to share?

Hard work pays off and as my class leader says, “There is never a wrong time to do the right thing.”
