11/10/2009 - GOODFELLOW AFB, Texas -- This year's 6th Annual San Angelo Veterans Day parade on Saturday was a perfect day for marching, watching and waving the American flag. Several thousand local and military personnel lined the downtown streets of San Angelo as the Goodfellow Joint Service Color Guard with Col. Thomas Geary, 17th Training Wing commander, acting as grand marshal, led the more than 100 parade entries.

Team Goodfellow had over 500 participants marching in formation, riding in fire trucks and law enforcement vehicles or on floats that represented private organizations or units. Other entries included high school and middle-school marching bands, classic cars, motor cycle clubs, riders on horseback and longhorns, and local businesses on floats and vehicles.

Before the parade began, Goodfellow Chaplain Sammy Tucker led the base personnel and surrounding marchers and parade entries in a moment of silence to pray for the fallen and wounded Soldiers at Fort Hood, along with their families.

"The San Angelo Veterans Day parade has grown each year, with over 110 entries." said Tim Vasquez, Parade Chairman of the All Veterans Council of Tom Green County. "We always appreciate Goodfellow's involvement and bringing in all their military personnel and vehicles to make the parade the great success that it is. We couldn't do this without them"
