Two members of Team Goodfellow are now known as two of the best in the Air Force.

Senior Master Sgt. Kyle Clement of the 17th Mission Support Squadron was awarded the Outstanding U.S. Air Force Personnel Manager of the Year award at the Air Force level for the Personnel Superintendent category, while Master Sgt. Benjamin Miranda Jr. of the Goodfellow NCO Academy was selected for an Enlisted Professional Military Education Achievement Award at the Air Force level as an NCO Academy instructor.

Colonel Richard Ayres, 17th Training Wing commander, announced the selections during the last wing-level commander's call Dec. 7 at the base theater.

Senior Master Sgt. Clement was nominated for his outstanding leadership and job performance while deployed with the 732nd Expeditionary Mission Support Group in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Among his many other accomplishments were his community service and his fitness leadership, scoring 100 on his physical fitness test.

"I've only been here at Goodfellow for a few months, but I quickly learned about the great things Senior Master Sgt. Clement has done. He recently got selected for promotion to chief master sergeant just a few weeks ago, so I'm not too surprised to find out that he won an Air Force-level award," said Airman 1st Class Robert Bloom, a personnelist with the 17 MSS.

"I'm sure other Airmen in the squadron would agree that Sergeant Clement sets a great example for other Airmen to follow."

Contributing to Master Sgt. Miranda's nomination were his exceptional ability as an instructor, his warrior mentality and community involvement. Additionally, Sergeant Miranda interned as a high school principal.

"Master Sgt. Miranda accomplished a great deal in the last year, which made him a frontrunner for the nomination," said Master Sgt. Theresa Meyer, director of education for the Goodfellow NCO Academy, "But he would be the first to tell you that the organization is more important than individual accolades. He's just that kind of guy."
