Military students who attend intelligence technical training at Goodfellow will be able to receive college credits toward Bachelors and Masters degrees for those courses through the American Military University's graduate and undergraduate studies programs.

A memorandum of understanding was signed Tuesday by the commander of the 17th Training Group, Col. Scott George, and Mr. Wallace Boston, President of the American Public University System and American Military University.

After a two-month evaluation and assessment of both the enlisted and officer intel courses, the university will now accept credit transfer of those programs toward strategic intelligence and undergraduate degrees in intelligence.

AMU's courses are all offered online, something that draws in a majority of their students from the military. "The flexibility and convenience to be able to complete courses from any deployed location, anywhere around the world is a huge benefit to our military students," said Mr. Boston.

Everyone who graduates from Goodfellow's intelligence training will benefit from this MOU, according to Mr. Boston. "As a matter of fact, everyone who graduates after this has been signed today will benefit," he said.

Part of the reason the university was interested in signing the MOU at Goodfellow was the high caliber of instructors teaching the courses, according to Maj. Derek Gardner of the 17th Training Group.

"We've got the best here," the major said. "The quality of the instructors who teach each branch of the military are second to none and played a vital role in this agreement taking place."

The overall intent of this agreement is to encourage Air Force officer and enlisted intelligence professionals to attain higher levels of education to help solve the intelligence challenges that face the United States today and in the future.
