OPEN HOUSE

The Goodfellow AFB Open House and Block Party is coming up soon on Saturday, June 3!  We look forward to opening the base to the local community.   We'll be updating this page as we lead up to the big event!  🤩

To access the event, please enter through the 'Crash Gate' on Chadbourne.  Signs will be posted near the South (Jacobson) Gate to guide you.  

Please bring a valid government ID (driver's license, passport, etc.) to expedite processing through the security checkpoint.

Take part in a tour of the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy.  See the equipment and vehicles DoD firefighters use for their training.   Fun activities planned for children and adults! 👨‍🚒

See information booths on health topics related to sleep hygiene, smoking cessation, mental health, and wearable technology.  Screenings for hypertension and diabetes will also be offered.

10:00 a.m.  MEDEVAC Demo at the Parade Field

Members of the Army's 344th Military Intelligence Battalion will conduct a MEDEVAC demonstration.  It will be a quick and immersive demonstration on how quickly, effectively, and deliberately U.S. Army Soldiers in combat react to sustaining a casualty.

A small team of Soldiers on patrol will find themselves in a less-than-ideal situation, and will have to treat a casualty, get them to safety, and transport them to a medical treatment facility quickly to save their life.  Afterwards, audience members will be welcomed to approach our team to ask any questions they may have and observe some of the equipment utilized.

11:00 a.m.  Military Working Dog 🐕 Demo at the Base Theater Grass Area

See the teamwork between a military K-9 and member of Goodfellow’s 17th Security Forces Squadron! There is ONLY ONE demo planned for this event.  Don't miss it!

Put your strength and endurance to the test with members of Goodfellow's 17th SFS EST through a mini tryout session.  You'll have the chance to do a dummy drag, ammo carry and other fun activities!

Service members from different branches will be at this tent where you and your family, loved ones, and friends can ask questions to service members.

Contraband may be considered, but not limited to:

  • Illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, etc.
  • Stolen personal/government property
  • Large sums of money
  • Drones
  • Knives within blades 4 inches or longer
  • Other instruments for a crime (e.g., burglary tools).

NO PETS ALLOWED DURING EVENT

The only animals allowed during the event will be service animals.  Current vaccination records for service animals will be required.  

About the 17th Training Wing

Goodfellow Air Force Base is home of the historic 17th Training Wing, a United States Air Force joint service training installation subordinate to Air Education and Training Command. Goodfellow trains Airmen, Guardians, Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Coast Guardsmen as imagery analysts, linguists, cryptologists, and all-source analysts. Goodfellow is also home to the DoD’s only firefighting academy, where students from all military services are trained in fire protection.
