Area Defense Counsel
The Area Defense Counsel is a military attorney who represents any Airman accused of a crime or facing adverse action by the Air Force (such as a Letter of Reprimand).
Our job is to provide zealous legal defense. This requires "maintaining the high ground" in terms of professionalism, officership, legal and litigation skills, ethical conduct, and civility.
The ADC office is in a separate chain of command outside of the 17th Training Wing and AETC, and offers complete confidentiality. Nothing you say to your attorney will be disclosed to anyone else without your permission-not to your commander, not to your first sergeant, and certainly not to anyone else.
Some of the services provided by the ADC include assistance with the following adverse actions:
· Court-martial
· Article 15's
· Responses to LOR, LOC, LOA
· Suspect Advice/Legal Assistance
· Report of Survey
· Demotions/Discharges
· Referral EPR's
· Revoked Security Clearance/SIF
If you have been suspected of a crime, remember your Article 31 Rights. Under Article 31, you have the right to remain silent; 'guilt cannot be legally inferred by your silence and your silence cannot be held against you.' Article 31 also gives you the right to an attorney, likely the Area Defense Counsel at Goodfellow AFB. And as a military member, it costs you nothing.
Contact the Area Defense Counsel at 325-654-5070, Monday through Friday, or if it is an after-hours emergency at 325-654-3558. Walk-ins are welcomed.
