The Taylor Chapel hosted a Ministerial Alliance between San Angelo pastors and base chaplains May 4.

Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Robert Borger, 17th Training Wing chaplain, initiated the alliance to help better serve the communities’ spiritual needs.

“If a major event takes place and the chaplain needs some support we will be able to help provide that,” said Emmett Corker, Northridge Baptist Church pastor. I was invited by the chapel to come and take a tour today to try and establish a connection between local and base chaplains.

Local pastors toured various base locations like the Norma Brown
Headquarters building, Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy and Taylor Chapel.

“The partnership is important because one of the four pillars of resiliency is spiritual,” said Borger. “The partnership between Goodfellow and the community is already established but now we want to go even deeper.”

Col. Michael Downs, 17th Training Wing Commander, also met with local ministers to talk about the importance of the initiative.

“I’m hoping as a result of this, a long time partnership will foster,” said Borger.
