The 17th Training Wing hosted Santa’s Market and Community Appreciation Day, the largest community event on Goodfellow Air Force Base this year with over 4,000 attendees, 78 local vendors and 112 booths, all taking place at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy high bay on Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, Nov. 18.

Vendors offered a wide range of hand-made goods including wood working, knitting, vintage jewelry, heritage items, wreaths and much more. Along with the vendors, events took place such as Marines from the Marine Corps Detachment at Goodfellow Air Force Base teaching hand-to-hand self-defense, a visit from the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch and the main attraction, Santa Claus himself.

Santa passed on his usual sleigh, opting instead for a ride on one of the Fire Academy’s firetrucks. After greeting the crowd, children had their pictures taken with him.
