GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Leaders from Goodfellow Air Force Base attended a chamber of commerce luncheon to express their gratitude for the community and update them on current events at the McNease Convention Center in San Angelo, Texas, 19 March.
Lunch was provided to the local leaders before they were invited to speak on the behalf of their organizations.
Col. Ricky Mills, 17th Training Wing commander, was the featured speaker of this event.
“One of the things that makes this community great is our partnership agreements,” said Mills. “We have more partnership agreements than any other Air Force Base.”
The partnership agreements Goodfellow shares with San Angelo range from supporting Angelo State University through ROTC programs to helping provide vehicle maintenance for the firetrucks in conjunction with the city providing ambulance services for the base. These types of agreements save both parties money and time while making their relationship stronger.
He later mentioned Goodfellow as a choice place for retirees and give his own personal experience with it.
“We wanted to show appreciation for retirees,” said Mills “One of whom is my dad who retired over 30 years ago here and has never left.”
At the end of his speech, Mills drove home his thanks to the community and all they do to support the service members on Goodfellow. “It truly has been an honor and privilege to be a part of the greatest community in America.”
