Herb earned the Medic of the Month award for outstanding Airmanship at the Ross Clinic here, June 7.
One of Herb’s primary duties is being the tele-psychiatry coordinator with Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, ensuring over 25 Goodfellow members receive psychiatric care. According to her supervisors and commander, Herb has shown herself to be calm, cool and collected during various crisis moments. These are just a few of the reasons she was selected as Medic of the Month.
How does your job support the 17th Training Wing’s Mission?
I support the patients that come in. I’m just a normal Airman making sure I’m doing everything I need to.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Having patients come in, while upset or crying, and seeing them leave after they have some peace.
What has been your biggest challenge in the military, and how did you overcome that challenge?
Being away from family and my social support system has been the toughest, but I found new friends and a support system here.
What has been your most memorable experience in the military?
Receiving this award is really nice, realizing that people have seen everything that I’ve been doing.
What is one piece of information or advice you would like to pass on?
Always do your best and never give up.
