SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The San Angelo Independent School District celebrated the beginning of a new school year with the annual Convocation honoring Goodfellow Air Force Base leadership at the Foster Communications Coliseum, August 15.
This conference was a way to pump up the SAISD faculty and increase community relations between Goodfellow and the San Angelo population.
The theme of the event was “The Avengers Go Back to the Future.” The SAISD staff portrayed various superheroes while performing skits and dances before unveiling a DeLorean Motor Company DMC-12 featuring faculty members dressed as Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly.
George Couros, author of “Innovate Inside the Box,” spoke on the characteristics of the “Innovator Mindset” and how to proactively design learning experiences allowing students to make decisions while addressing barriers that impede learning. He also explained how to create a learner-driven, evidence-informed learning experience to provide students with choices to maximize their success.
This event enables leadership to meet the individuals at SAISD and understand the environment that service members’ school-age children are members of.
