GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Tensions rise in preparation for the annual Army-Navy flag football game scheduled December 13 at 4 p.m. near the Mathis Fitness Center field here.
Goosebumps and chills run down your spine, but it’s not the cooler temperatures which has Goodfellow on edge.
In an age old rivalry originating from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York, Goodfellow’s Team Army and Team Navy, with the help of the Marines, battle for the gold trophy and a year of bragging rights around base.
Though trash talking about the victory is nearly as old as the game, the true focus of the game includes ideals of comradery and brotherhood.
With Army winning last year, and Navy winning the year before, the score is tied.
Come out and see, the best two out of three, in the battle of the land and sea.
