GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- San Angelo Military Advisor Group Co-Chair, Mike Boyd, and Spouse, Treva, delivered over 2,100 disposable surgical masks to the 17th Training Wing here, April 28.
“We did this because Goodfellow is part of the San Angelo family,” said Treva. “You protect us, we try our best to help you.”
This giving phenomenon all started by two men who spent over $125,000 and purchased over 100,000 masks for medical members, first responders, the San Angelo community, and Goodfellow Air Force Base.
Managing Partner of Principal LED, Bryan Vincent, and Ener-Tel Owner, Scott Wisniewski, fronted the costs independently. They later collaborated with the San Angelo Health Foundation.
These masks are particularly helpful, since Goodfellow members have fashioned masks in a variety of materials such as t-shirts, bandanas, and other fabrics to slow the spread of COVID-19.
“More shipments of masks will come,” said Boyd. “We will bring them to Goodfellow because we have to protect our Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Sailors.”
The masks donated were a token of appreciation and demonstrated the tight-knit bond between the San Angelo Community and Goodfellow.
“The health and safety of Goodfellow and San Angelo is a team sport,” said Col. Andres Nazario, 17th Training Wing commander. “We’re so thankful for all of San Angelo’s help during these trying times.”
