The 17th Security Forces Squadron held a ruck in memory of a fellow fallen defender Sept, 28, 2020 here.

Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Jacobson was a member of the 17th SFS from 2003-2005. In 2005 she deployed as part of the 586th Expeditionary SFS stationed at Camp Bucca, Iraq, where she died Sept 28th, 2005. She was the first female Airman killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the first Air Force SF member killed in conflict since the Vietnam War.

Staff Sgt. Jonathan Keough, 17th SFS member, coordinated the four-mile ruck. Two truck beds full of canned food, totaling to 3,319 pounds, were donated to the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, each pound equates to roughly one meal.

“Two truckloads of canned food were donated today to the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank,” said Keough. “Our rucksacks need weight in them so we loaded them with cans before rucking approximately four miles.”

Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen rucked together to remember Jacobson and those we’ve lost over the years.

Like Jacobson, thousands of warriors deploy every year to protect our country, facing new and dangerous situations every day.

As you pass through the Jacobson gate, remember those warriors and their families.
