GOODFELLOW AFB | AIR FORCE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Goal:

  • Share resources/information, reduce costs, increase interoperability, prepare for contingencies & disasters, create a base of choice, and unify the civic-base community

Accomplishments:

  • 1st IGSA below MAJCOM level for development of military faculty
  • 1st IGSA in DoD to contract quarters with a public university for military student
  • City of San Angelo received Altus Trophy (Air Education and Training Command Community Support Award) in 2014 and 2018, the only community to win the award twice
  • Recognized in April 2018 by Air Force Community Partnership Program for “Program Leadership Excellence”

    Amidst COVID-19, Angelo State University and the 17th Training Group virtually signed into effect an articulation agreement amendment May 27, allowing the 14N Intelligence Officer course graduates here to transfer 12 semester hours towards an additional ASU graduate program.

    March 31, 2020, marked a moment of positivity during the COVID-19 outbreak. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, announced new grants benefiting multiple bases in Texas. Goodfellow and Tom Green County are one of the bases and communities to receive grant money.
  • SPINSTRA 3D prints medical supplies

    The 312th Training Squadron’s Special Instruments Training course instructors have begun using their skills to 3D print prototypes to supply the medical facilities in the area with N95 face masks and face shields.
  • 17 LRS manifests SAISD partnership

    Goodfellow Air Force Base and San Angelo Independent School District solidified a memorandum of agreement, manifesting the 17th Training Wing to share vehicle mechanics and technicians with SAISD in its administration building, Feb. 21.
  • 312th TRS modernizes EMR course

    Manikins have been used since the 1960s, helping medical professionals learn how to accurately assess and treat patients in a simulated situation. The first medical manikins were used to teach resuscitation then later developed for teaching things such as anesthesiology and childbirth. The 312th Training Squadron here recently acquired new and improved HAL Manikins as a training tool in the Emergency Medical Responders course. These manikins allow students to diagnose and assist the patient by taking vitals and asking questions.

HIGHLIGHTS

Goodfellow’s Air Force Community Partnership program accomplished a lot in 2020! Check out what they accomplished in coordination with leaders from the San Angelo community.
Members of the 17th Training Wing had the opportunity to interact with four-legged furry friends during lunch.
The 17th Training Wing recently conducted an active shooter exercise, which involved the coordination of multiple base agencies.
The 17th Medical Group in-place patient decontamination (IPPD) team conducted their monthly training behind the Ross Clinic on September 12th. It provided a unique opportunity to collaborate with the San Angelo Community Medical Center.
