On the morning of Nov. 19, 2020, alerts went out across the base and city for public safety.

Some people may have not received them due to proximity to the base or town. But others didn’t receive notifications because they weren’t set up properly.

“To receive the fastest, most up-to-date information, make sure to set up your notification settings,” said Master Sgt. Aimee Thomas, command post superintendent “Setting up the notifications is very easy and will aid increased response time.”

Setting up the notifications for iPhones is as simple as going to the settings app, clicking on notifications, and then scrolling to the bottom to turn on Government Alerts. There you will find switches for AMBER alerts, Emergency alerts, and Public Safety Alerts. Make sure to turn these on to receive the alerts.

For Android, go to apps & notifications then turn on wireless emergency alerts to receive these alerts.

Setting up notifications and alerts will ensure quick communication and help individuals remain safe during crisis situations.
