Goodfellow celebrated and re-focused base initiatives by signing a proclamation to establish the 2021 Month of Awesomeness and Awareness for April, held outside of the Western Winds Dining Facility, here, March 25.

The 2021 Month of Awesomeness and Awareness will focus on military children, child abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention and response, alcohol abuse prevention, and national financial capability.

“Our hope is that individuals and communities across the country engage with these issues by learning more about these topics, share important statistics and bring our communities together to help those impacted by these harmful issues, ” said Goodfellow’s School Age Director, Tommy Engel. “Together we can work to reduce, with the goal to eliminate, any future occurrences.”

The implementation and promotion of these programs are designed to help curve the occurrence and risk of child maltreatment, alcohol abuse and sexual assault. Several base agencies will work together to enhance the lives of military children and families.

“We fundamentally believe that all these activities are unified and supported by each other,” said Col. Andres Nazario, 17th Training Wing commander. “We are a ‘Caring Wing,’ we are a ‘People Wing,’ and we are an ‘Awesome Wing,’ thank you and I appreciate you all.”
