The San Angelo City Council hosted Goodfellow and the San Angelo Independent School District leadership, for a proclamation signing in recognition of the Month of the Military Child, during a monthly City Council meeting here at the McNease Convention Center, April 6.

The proclamation served to declare a city-wide recognition of April as the Month of the Military Child and express San Angelo’s thanks to military children, celebrating the children for their courage, and unconditional support of our armed forces.

“Here in San Angelo, we are blessed to have Goodfellow Air Force Base. Strong military families that call our city home add so much to our community,” said Mayor Brenda Gunter. “Today, and for the month of April, we will make a special effort to lift up our military families and to salute them for their contribution and the resilience of our military children.”

Gunter urged all citizens of San Angelo to acknowledge the occasion in honor of the outstanding strength of our military children and their families.

“I am really thankful for this effort,” said Chief Master Sgt. Casy Boomershine, 17th Training Wing command chief. “While we serve, our children also serve, and I thank the community for making our kids feel welcome.”
