GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 17th Force Support Squadron hosted a block party for base members and students to celebrate the 17th Training Wing Day of Thanks, June 11.
The event served to show appreciation for the base community’s endurance of the challenges faced throughout the pandemic and for their support during Winter Storm Uri in February 2021.
The block party encompassed various locations and facilities surrounding the Event Center. Members and their dependents were able to enjoy free bowling, the McGarr Pool, inflatable water slides, food trucks and various outdoor games.
Also during the event, the 17th Medical Group teamed up with members of the Texas Army National Guard Mobile Vaccination Team to administer COVID-19 vaccines at the Event Center. The MVT is comprised of over seven thousand volunteers, split up into smaller teams who travel and supply members with vaccinations without requiring an appointment.
To end the night, the 17th FSS played the movie “Apollo 13” at the Parade Field.
“Events like this are part of our mission,” said 17th FSS Marketing Director, Alicia Aguilar, “We look forward to giving back to the Airmen through these events as well as the programming and facilities we provide.”
