GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas— Members of the 17th Training Wing hosted Operation Kids for military and local community children to participate in mock deployment exercises, Oct. 15. Lakeview and Central High School students involved in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program also lent their support for this event.
“Operation Kids is a great tool to help military children understand what it is their parents go through on deployment,” said Col. Matthew Reilman, 17th TRW commander. “This program gives military children the ability to see firsthand some of the things their parents will experience downrange.”
The ability to rapidly project power to hotspots anywhere in the world is vital to securing and maintaining the security of the United States. Military members are expected to support airpower through deployment to forward locations spanning the globe.
Operation Kids increases children’s familiarization with the deployment process in a fun, safe, and engaging way.
