Sailors assigned to Information Warfare Training Command Monterey Detachment Goodfellow celebrated the U.S. Navy’s 247th birthday with a ball, at the Cactus Hotel, San Angelo, Texas, Oct. 14.

Focusing on heritage and the importance of the Sailors that make up the U.S. Navy, the evening consisted of a multitude of traditional events. The ball consisted of setting and displaying the POW/MIA table, singing of Anchors Aweigh, the playing of the Bosun’s whistle, the toast and response, the parade of the beef, and a speech from retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Casey Tibbs, as well as the cutting of the birthday cake.
