NEWSPAPER SUBMISSION DEADLINE
The deadline to have articles or photos in the Goodfellow Monitor is 10 calendar days prior to desired publication date. All submissions are subject to approval and editing by the 17th Training Wing Public Affairs staff. Email submissions or story ideas to 17trw.pa2@us.af.mil.

BASE GRID MAP UPDATED
The 2013 Base Grid Map has been updated. The new map is dated June 14, 2013. Anyone who is part of the Disaster Response Force, Unit Control Centers, Emergency Communications Center, Emergency Operations Center, Crisis Action Team, Command Post, Specialized Teams as well as all Fire Department and Security Forces response vehicles need a new map. All old maps should be shredded. Coordinate request for maps through unit Emergency Management Representative. New maps can be picked up from 17th Civil Engineering Squadron Readiness and Emergency Management Flight starting on June 24. For more information call Emergency Management at 325-654-4190.

FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS AND HEALTH FAIR
The 17th Medical Group plans to host a sports physical and health fair at the Ross Clinic here August 8 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The fair targets students entering 7th through 12th grades who plan to participate in sports during the 2013/2014 school year. Participants must bring a military I.D. and a form from the school. All other physicals or concerns require an appointment. To reach the appointment line call 325-654-3149.

GOODFELLOW PARENT GROUP PLAYGROUP
The Goodfellow Parent's Group is hosting a playgroup at the Youth Center Gymnasium, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The play group is every Friday until the end of summer. For more information call Shandy Scott at 325-654-4706. 

CLEP AND DSST TESTS
The Wayland Baptist University National Test Center will offer both CLEP and DSST tests Wednesdays at 5 p.m., and Thursdays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. To schedule a test, call the Education Center customer service desk at 325-654-3314.

WING IG OFFICE

TDY TRAVEL CANCELLATIONS
Travellers scheduled for a temporary duty assignment that has been cancelled must cancel their airline tickets and other travel reservations before the scheduled travel date. Failure to cancel may result in a loss of government funds. A traveler's failure to cancel may make the traveler financially liable for any resulting losses. RECYCLING AT GOODFELLOW
Paper: Office paper, including envelopes. Catalogs, magazines and newspapers. Shredded paper must be in tied plastic bags. No strings or plastic straps. Privacy Act material can only be placed in gray locked bins. No carbons accepted.
Plastic: Plastic containers #1 and #2 only, all colors. Plastic PETE #1, soft drink and juice bottles, HDPE #2, milk jugs and some laundry detergent bottles. Remove all caps and lids. Look for the recycle triangle at the bottom of the container for the plastic type.
Cardboard and Packaging Material: Corrugated boxes, brown paper and packaging paper used in household moves must be placed in the cardboard dumpsters located throughout the base. No pizza boxes.
Glass: No caps or lids.
Aluminum Cans: Beverage cans only. No scrap metal, aerosol cans or pie pans.

PUBLIC SPEAKERS NEEDED
Public Affairs is looking for sharp service members who are comfortable with public speaking. Speaking engagements include speaking in the San Angelo community on a wide range of topics, briefing at the newcomer's orientation and briefing VIP visitors. These are great volunteer opportunities. AIR FORCE ACCEPTING PRIOR SERVICE APPLICANTS
Have you previously served as an enlisted member in the Air Force or other branch of the U.S.military? If so, and you were honorably discharged and have been out of the service less than six years, you may be eligible to serve in the U.S. Air Force. FREE NATIONAL PARKS AND FEDERAL RECREATIONAL LANDS PASS
All active-duty military members and their dependents qualify for a free national parks and federal recreational lands pass. Individuals who suspect fraud, waste or abuse must report it to their commander, security forces, Air Force Office of Special Investigations Detachment or the 17th Training Wing Inspector General. MILITARY SAVES PROGRAM
Military Saves is a Defense Department-wide financial readiness campaign to persuade people to reduce debt and save money, and encourages people to develop a personal financial plan. AFA LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS
The Air Force Association educates, advocates and supports the U.S. Air Force to assure it stays strong and capable to serve the nation. SURVIVOR BENEFIT PLAN
The Survivor Benefit Plan helps meet a family's needs for continuous income protection following a service member's death. Coverage is free while the member remains on active duty. After retirement, monthly premiums are held in the Military Retirement System Trust Fund and benefits are paid to eligible survivors from that fund. YOUTH DANCE CLASSES

MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES

SAMS PLACE
SAMS Place has free household, clothing and food items for service members E-6 and below, and their families. SAMS Place is open Tue., Thu. and Sat. from 9 a.m-3:30 p.m., and Wed. and Fri. from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. SAMS Place is located behind the Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 144. Donations can only be dropped off during hours of operation. Volunteers are also needed to sort and place items on shelves. CIVIL AIR PATROL
San Angelo: The San Angelo CAP meets Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. - 9 p.m., in building 900. Three Rivers Flight: Three Rivers Flight CAP of Grape Creek meets Mondays from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Grape Creek Family Fellowship Church, 8158 U.S. Hwy 87 N.
CAP is open to all adults and youths ages 12 and older. CAP focuses on three congressionally mandated missions: Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education, and Emergency Services. FAMILY CHILD CARE PROGRAM

The Family Child Care Program affords providers the opportunity to stay at home with their own children while providing a positive experience for children whose parents must work in the community or on Goodfellow. The FCC Program provides child care in an individual's home during the work week, evenings, shift work, or weekends for active duty military, civilians and military contractors. INSTALLATION TEEN COUNCIL
The Youth Center is organizing an Installation Teen Council for youths in grades 9-11. Participants are not required to be Youth Center members to be on the council. Council objectives include: hearing and establishing a method for Air Force teens to share viewpoints on issues they are most concerned about; to communicate Air Force teen opinions to leadership; resolve issues: and to reach out to youths who do not utilize Air Force Youth Programs. BASE IN-PROCESSING FOR PRIOR SERVICE STUDENTS, OFFICER STUDENTS AND PERMANENT PARTY
Upon PCS arrival to Goodfellow, your first stop will be the Military Personnel Section, bldg 430/first floor, for base in-processing. Base in-processing hours are 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. If you arrive at Goodfellow after 11:00 a.m., you must report to MPS the following duty day. You are required to bring three copies of your PCS orders and military ID.

TRICARE FOR YOUNG ADULTS
Family members of active duty or retired service members who meet eligibility requirements can purchase TRICARE coverage on a month-to-month basis through the TRICARE for Young Adults program. Eligibility requirements are: between ages 21and 26; not married; not eligible for other employer coverage. For more information call TRICARE at 800-444-5445.

OBTAINING A MILITARY ID
To receive a military ID card, two forms of identification are needed; one form of ID must have a photograph. Acceptable forms of ID are: driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, voter registration card, or military/retired ID. Promotion orders are required for those needing a rank change. All documents used for ID purposes cannot be expired; the only exceptions to this are military Common Access Cards and dependent military ID cards. DEERS/ID CARD APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
The Military Personnel Section (bldg 430/ first floor) DEERS section implemented an appointment system for customers. Walk-in hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 11 a.m., and 'appointments only' are from noon to 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, customers need to call the DEERS sections at 325-654-1801 or 1802.
