DISTRICT 4 LITTLE LEAGUE TEXAS WEST STATE TOURNAMENT
Volunteers needed: 40
Date/Time: Thursday-Sunday July 18-21; 3-hr shifts beginning at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm, 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm
Location: Texas Bank Sports Complex, 1615 Rio Concho Drive (off S. Bell Street)

Details: Volunteers needed for security, concessions, clean-up and parking duties; will receive a t-shirt and meal. Transportation can possibly be provided. If interested in volunteering, please contact Omar Matos by June 5.

CRITTER SHACK HUMANE SOCIETY PET ADOPTION
Volunteers needed: 10 to 20 each day (no limit)
Date/Time: Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21, 10:30 am to 6:00 pm
Location: PetSmart, 4439 Sunset Drive

Details: Permanent party and students are all welcome to assist and need not stay all day, but can work in shifts. Food and drinks will be provided to all volunteers. Sign in inside PetSmart at the registration table near the cat kennels. If lacking transportation, the trolley has a route to PetSmart. If interested in volunteering, contact the above POC.

CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK - SHANNON MEDICAL CENTER
Volunteers needed: Unlimited
Date/Time: Solicit pledges from now until game day, November 2
Location: Online effort

Details: Volunteers will create a team on www.extra-life.org and solicit pledges from friends and family to raise funds for Shannon Medical Center. On November 2, play any type game (video, board, outdoor) for 24 hours, which can be done over a 2- to 3-day period. If interested in volunteering, contact the above POC.

ADULT LITERACY COUNCIL OF THE CONCHO VALLEY
Volunteers needed: 10
Date/Time: Ongoing; anytime M-F, day or evening
Location: 59 E. 6th Street

Details: Tutor local residents in reading, GED preparation, basic computer skills, conversational skills, and test-taking skills. Most volunteers work out a schedule that is convenient for the volunteer and the person receiving the tutoring. Training will be provided. Spanish-language speakers are a plus! ADULT LITERACY COUNCIL OF THE CONCHO VALLEY
Volunteers needed: Writing tutor and English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor
Date/Time: ESL tutor: Mondays and Thursdays, 6:00 to 8:00 pm; Writing tutor: flexible, to be worked out with tutee

WEST TEXAS COUNSELING & GUIDANCE - TOOLS FOR LIFE/RECYCLE-A-BICYCLE
Volunteers needed: 3
Date/Time: Ongoing, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm

Details: Assist children by teaching them bicycle repair skills, assisting on bicycle rides, safe riding, etc. Background check required which takes up to two weeks. If interested in volunteering, contact the above POC.

CASA OF TOM GREEN COUNTY

Details: Serve as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for at-risk children. Become a voice for abused and neglected children who have no one else to speak for them. Make a long-term, real, positive impact! Training provided. Requires 9 to 15 hrs per month and a one-year commitment. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old. FORT CONCHO BUFFALO SOLDIERS LIVING HISTORY PROGRAM
Volunteers needed: One or more throughout year
Date/Time: Ongoing, usually on weekends
Location: Fort Concho, 630 S. Oakes Street

Details: Volunteers use replica uniforms and weapons to tell the story of the famed black troops of the western military frontier in the 1870s and 1880s. Training, equipment, and basic uniform provided. Commitment can be a few hours per month or as much as the volunteer desires.

AIRMEN AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING
Volunteers needed: One dispatcher and at least three teams of two individuals (driver and passenger) each night of the weekend
Date/Time: Friday and Saturday nights, 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
Location: Volunteers are on-call from their homes until needed.

Details: Need one volunteer to serve as dispatcher to receive incoming calls from individuals needing rides home and to notify one of the driver/passenger teams of pick up location. Individuals will volunteer at their own convenience.

FAITH IN ACTION - LAWN MOWING FOR DISABLED/ELDERLY
Volunteers needed: One

Details: Elderly woman has a lawn mower but she is unable to pull the cord to determine if it works. If interested in volunteering, contact the above POC.

AREA AGENCY ON AGING: OMBUDSMEN PROGRAM
Volunteers needed: 26
Responsibilities: Visit and advocate for nursing home residents. Provide information to residents and family about rights, procedures, and additional resources in and out of the facility. Commitment of two hours per week after initial training is required.

Location: Will be assigned a specific nursing home after training.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF SAN ANGELO: MENTOR OUTREACH TO AT-RISK YOUTH
Volunteers needed: 50
Responsibilities: Interact with and mentor youth at Northside and Southside facilities
Date/ time: As soon as possible, minimum of one hour per week with at least a 6-month commitment.

SONRISAS THERAPEUTIC RIDING
Volunteers needed: 12 per class
Responsibilities: Side-walkers for riders and horse leaders
Date and time: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday for 1-hr classes at 9, 10 and 11 a.m., and 1 p.m.

Additional info: First-time volunteers need to come 20 minutes early for training. Paperwork can be found at www.sonrisasriding.org under the volunteer tab. A donation will be made in each volunteer's name to a Goodfellow benevolent fund.

RAILROAD MUSEUM OF SAN ANGELO
Volunteers needed: 8
Responsibilities: Various clean-up/support projects

Volunteers needed: 1 or 2 volunteers per assignment

Location: Shut-in's home, grocery store, and back to shut-in's home

Details:Take shut-in to buy groceries, or get grocery list and money from shut-in and buy groceries for the individual. Deliver to individual's home and assist with putting groceries away.
