The Goodfellow School Liaison office kicks off its new Fill-A-Backpack Program July 15 to provide backpacks full of school supplies to local military and community children in need.

Goodfellow's aim is to give the children of military and local community families the opportunity to start school with some of the supplies they need to be successful.

"The program is beneficial because it can benefit lower ranking military families with several small children or those families affected by the furlough," said Angela Green, Goodfellow School Liaison Specialist. "It can help take the pressure off those families while helping us promote education."

Green invites squadrons, private organizations, offices and individuals to participate in the program.

"Those children needing a backpack are not restricted to military families only, DoD civilian families can also benefit from the program," said Green.

Supervisors can nominate anyone who they think can benefit from the program, she added.

Squadron First Sergeants are asked to contact Green at angela.green.8@us.af.mil with names of potential families needing a donated backpack. Information must include the age group the backpack will apply to.
