Thirty-six participants showed up for the 3rd Annual SARC challenge, here, April 27.

The challenge consisted of 14 stations scattered throughout the base. Each station contained a task the teams had to complete to receive facts about Sexual Assault Awareness as well as clues to the location of the next station.

Some groups took a little longer on the first task as one member of the group searched for clues in eggs that were scattered across grassy area. Mingled in with the clues were Sexual Assault Awareness facts as well as small tasks such as jumping jacks or push-ups that had to be completed before the participant could check another egg.

Station tasks ranged from a two-man dummy carry to pushing teammates on a chair through a maze while blindfolded.

Different strategies abounded during the event. Some groups ran from station to station while other groups chose to walk quickly and solve the tasks and clues faster.

One of the groups, self-named "Dark Brotherhood," consisted of Airman 1st Class Sean McDonough and Airman Elric Olson from the 316th Training Squadron. They said they felt they could have made up time by wearing shorts and running shoes as well as hydrating more.

1st Lt. Philip Trudeau, 17th Civil Engineer Squadron project engineer, and his challenge partner Mary Payton took home the best costume award wearing coconut tops and grass skirts.

"That was my goal," said Payton. "It was like, I can't run. We're not going to come in first but we are going to look great while we're doing this."

Overall 75 people came out to participate, help out, or watch.
