Leadership encourages participation in Community Assessment Survey Published March 26, 2013 By David Sullins 17th Training Wing Community Support Coordinator GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The 2013 Community Assessment Survey is scheduled to begin March 31 and runs through the end of May. The survey is an assessment of the Air Force community's ability to address wellness, strengths and risk to Airmen and their families. It takes place every two years. Since community issues have a direct impact on mission readiness, leadership is encouraged to ensure maximum participation. Active duty personnel, Air National Guard and Reserve personnel, Defense Department civilians and spouses of active duty members will be asked to participate in the survey. "Our Air Force is ALL about people...caring for Airmen and their families," said Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, Air Force Chief of Staff. "Please invest some time in sharing your thoughts and opinions on how we can do this better and make our Air Force community stronger." The information is also used to create the installation's Community Action Plan, which helps direct the activities of the Community Action Information Board. The board is set-up to help review and resolve installation community issues that impact force readiness and improve quality of life for Air Force members and their families. The survey asks demographic information, but only uses that information to align issues in a tiered structure so action plans can be created according to the concerns of specific demographics; no personal data is provided when the results are released to leadership. "Everything we do depends on our people, the living engine of our Air Force," said Michael Donley, Secretary of the Air Force. "The entire Air Force leadership team is committed to doing all we can to support our Total Force Airmen and their families. We know that through your valuable input, the state of our Air Force will remain strong, ready and capable of delivering airpower, whenever and wherever the Nation calls."
