Pricilla Rodriguez, 17th Force Support Squadron flight commander, and Jim Chaplin, Mathis Fitness Center operations manager, came up with the idea and put it together. "This event is to help boost morale on base," said Rodriguez. "People have been asking for races on base, so I thought I'd have one." The three and a half mile run pitted 35 competitors against each other. "There really is no losing," said Airman Aziz Sarbashev, St. Patrick's Day Run participant. "The only thing is to get better at running." Army Staff Sgt. Shannon Corona, Army 344th Military Intelligence Battalion student, took first place finishing in 19 minutes and 46 seconds. Once everyone else finished, awards were handed out for top male and female runners, most creative leprechaun costume and most creative St. Patrick's Day couple. Even though only a few people received special awards, everyone walked away with a free pint glass decorated by the Arts and Crafts Center.
