A Veterans' Day Parade was held in downtown San Angelo Nov. 10, to show support for past and present veterans.

The year's Veterans' Day Parade included active duty military and retirees representing all the branches of service. Some of the service members voiced their appreciation to the community.

"It's nice to have community that appreciates you," Airman 1st Class Patrick Eichamer, 17th Medical Group health service journeyman. "I'm very happy to be here. I love my job and I love my country."

However, it wasn't just active duty and retirees that participated in the parade. Several local schools had cheerleaders and bands play. A few motorcycle clubs rode their bikes. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts walked or rode floats and many more groups and organizations volunteered for the parade.

"It's a great honor to be a part of this parade," said Retired Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Juan Rubio, Purple Heart recipient. "It's amazing to be a part of a community like San Angelo, who support all the branches of the military. It makes me glad to be a part of it for the service members today."

After the Veterans' Day Parade, there was a mural presented to the community. This mural showed the military history of San Angelo starting with Fort Concho until present day. It also has the names of service members that have served in the local area around the edges of the artwork.
