32 years ago, a young Airman came through Goodfellow to train to be a radio communications analyst specialist and he has returned to learn more.

This Airman is now Senior Master Sgt. Jeffrey Trottier, 109th Airlift Wing intelligence superintendent. He recently came back to Goodfellow to attend the senior enlisted intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance master's skill course. The course teaches how the ISR field works and the senior enlisted discuss ideas and concerns that they might have.

"We also look at the way students train," said Trottier. "That's where I saw a huge difference from 32 years ago. They have some really sharp Airman now learning on really high-tech stuff. They take their job very seriously and the Air Force will have a bright future."

However, the Airmen are not the only things that have changed here. Trottier said he has also transformed as the years passed.

"I used to play on the base basketball team," said Trottier. "That was my outlet at the time, from the stress of school. I run now. Some of the students in the class and I, who have only been here a couple of weeks, have run the perimeter four times."

From when Trottier was an Airman, he said he remembers when he used to go to the library to write home to his mother. During that time, he said that his building to the library there was just an open field, which has now been taken up by other buildings.

Even though that young Airman, the classes and the base have changed, Trottier said he is glad to have returned.

"As a young Airman back then I never thought I'd be in the position I am today," Trottier added. "We never know how life treats us and what road or avenue we're going to take. It's been a real pleasure to come back."
