San Angelo Symphony's July 3rd Pops Concert to feature B-1 Bomber flyover

The San Angelo Symphony's 25th Annual July 3rd Pops Concert will feature a 28th Bomb Squadron B-1B Lancer flyover.

The 28th Bomb Squadron is the largest bomb squadron in the Air Force and the largest flying squadron in the command. Its primary mission is to provide all B-1 initial qualification, re-qualification and instructor upgrade training for Air Combat Command. Each year the squadron trains more than 200 B-1 crewmembers from active-duty and Air National Guard B-1 units. The aircraft that will flyover the July 3rd Pops Concert is assigned to the 7th Bomb Wing. The 7th Bomb Wing is the host unit at Dyess Air Force Base located just outside of Abilene, Texas, and is assigned to 12th Air Force at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. The wing is a component of Air Combat Command, headquartered at Langley AFB, Va.

The San Angelo Symphony July 3rd Pops Concert will take place on Tuesday, July 3, at the Bill Aylor Sr. Memorial RiverStage located on the banks of the Concho River at 16 E. Avenue A. The gates will open at noon; the Community Band will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the San Angelo Symphony at 8:30 p.m. General admission is free, but reserved seating is available ($10 - $25) by coming by the San Angelo Symphony office located at 36 E. Twohig,in the historic Cactus Hotel, on the mezzanine level.
