Air Force Marathon Slots Available through Charity Partner Air Force Published June 29, 2012 By Scarlett Bauman SHALIMAR, Fla. -- If you didn't get into the sold-out Air Force Marathon this September, it's not too late. Charity partner Air Force Enlisted Village has slots available for both the full and half marathon at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio on September 15. Runners can register for the race by visiting the AFEV website, www.afev.us, and clicking on the Air Force Marathon logo. From there, they will be asked to create a fundraising page at www.active.com/donate/AFEV. AFEV requires runners to raise a minimum of $500 in order to earn one of the coveted slots in this year's 16th Air Force Marathon. "It really amounts to asking only 20 people to donate $1 per mile," says Scarlett Bauman, AFEV marketing director. "You can email the link to your fundraising page to friends and family, post it on your Facebook or Twitter page, and it's a quick, easy way to raise funds for a good cause." Bauman also suggests that information about Air Force Enlisted Village's mission be included in the emails. AFEV is a non-profit organization that provides a safe, secure home for surviving spouses of our former military heroes and mothers of current active duty and retired military members.
