Goodfellow hosts CCAF and Park University graduation Published May 23, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Michael Smith 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Continuing one's education while working full time can be a very stressful ordeal. However this did not stop numerous graduates from the Community College of the Air Force and Park University who accepted their degrees in a ceremony May 18, from achieving that goal. The CCAF offers job-related associate degrees in applied science and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness. Park University teams up with Goodfellow to offer accredited onsite and online classes for associates, bachelors, and masters degrees. "Many of our students are in the military and move before they graduate, but because the degree is portable they can complete the degree no matter where they are located," said Kari Estes, Campus Center Director. According to Air University's website, students complete about 1.6 million semester hours of course credit through CCAF affiliated schools each year. Typically it would take an Airman approximately two years after starting two classes each eight week semester to receive their CCAF degree. Bachelors can take up to four years or sooner depending on whether they have prior credits that transfer or use the College Level Examination Program. "Do it as soon as you can, the longer you put it off the harder it becomes to finish," said Tech. Sgt. Robert Hempel, 17th Training Wing Public Affairs broadcaster. "The sooner you finish your CCAF degree the sooner you can begin on your bachelor's degree." Receiving a CCAF degree or any degree at all may not be required in the Air Force, although it is highly encouraged.
