FCC, Interested in becoming a provider? Published May 15, 2012 By 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- A Family Child Care home is a home approved by the 17th Force Support Squadron commander to provide child care services to military families and civilians. The FCC program offers military affiliated spouses living on and off base the opportunity to work at home while caring for their own children. We need providers who are willing to take care of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age children, and children with special needs, such as asthma, allergies, cerebral palsy, and physical impairments, etc. We also need providers to care for children in the evenings, weekends, swing and midnight shifts, and for extended duty hours. The FCC program accepts children and providers with chronic health problems including HIV positive individuals. Advantages to Providers: -Manage your own business -Set your own hours and fees -Resource Center (check out items free of charge) -Transferable Career -Free Training -Professional Development -USDA/CACFP Food Program -Subsidy Program Licensing Requirements: -Must be 18 years old -High School Diploma or equivalent -Able to speak, read and write English -Complete a family interview -Good mental and physical health -Complete a satisfactory background check (including family members) -Obtain liability insurance -Pet health certificate (if applicable) -Complete 24 hours of orientation training -Complete First Aid and CPR training -Fulfill on-going training requirement Any individuals caring for other families' children a total of 10 or more hours a week on a regular basis must be licensed to provide care in on-base quarters.
