Leanne Caballer 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- The Air Force Assistance Fund Campaign ended on a high note raising $89, 216, exceeding its original goal by 135 percent. The original goal of $66,041, based on data from previous years was higher than past goals but 2nd Lt. Frederick Freeman, 17th Comptroller Squadron and this year's campaign manager, was confident the goal was attainable. His thought was confirmed in just the first week of the campaign when the base collected $ 21,976, which was already 33 percent of the goal. Attributing the success of the campaign to team work and motivated unit program organizers, Freeman recognized Staff Sgt. Russell Bellamy, 316th Training Squadron and Tech. Sgt. Desdein Morton, 517th Training Squadron for raising the highest amount of money. "I had very proactive team members who had relentless dedication going above and beyond to organize fundraisers and get the word out on the campaign," Freeman said. "The support from Team Goodfellow as a whole was also a huge plus." Donations from the campaign benefit several aid organizations; Air Force Villages, Inc., the Air Force Aid Society, Inc., the General and Mrs. Curtis E. Lemay Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village, Inc. "The most rewarding part of this campaign is simply knowing all of the effort and contributions will directly benefit individuals who need it," Freeman said.
