A letter to Team Goodfellow Published April 23, 2012 GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas-- -- April 18, 2012 Dear Goodfellow Heroes, I wanted to take the time to drop you a quick note of thanks for all you do for our local community; especially the San Angelo Independent School District. The individual impact so many volunteers like you have as they take time out of their busy schedules is truly great, but when you combine all the efforts of all those individuals, the synergistic effect upon our city is beyond comparison to any other community I have ever lived in. As an employee of the San Angelo Independent School District, I have been encouraged to see members of every Armed Service, civilian employees and spouses of both come to our aide every time we have called for assistance. From flag raising ceremonies to sports clinics, dental programs to construction projects, Christmas for our Troops and cleanups, the personnel stationed at Goodfellow AFB have consistently and enthusiastically provided the answer to the call when we needed you the most. Just this year, we have had many volunteers from Goodfellow patriotically participate alongside local firefighters, first responders, and policemen in our 9/11 flag ceremony. Even more recently military and civilians came out to put on a school-wide health fair that was a tremendous success. I am encouraged, as both a community member and a retired Air Force veteran, by the stalwart dedication to duty, country, and community that still permeates through the lifeblood of our Armed Services. May God bless and keep you all, Chris Sloan MSgt (Ret.), USAF
