Excitement filled the air as the children of Team Goodfellow members scrambled around, filling their baskets with eggs. The annual event was created by Youth Programs to allow families to get together for enjoyment and relaxation. More than 300 people attended the event which had a range of activities and games, including jumping balloons, a dunking booth and horse riding. Sparky the Firedog also came out to visit and help guide the children through the egg hunt. "I like that the event is on base because it feels safe and everyone can have a good time," said Tech. Sgt. Gary Maldonado, 17th Communications Squadron. "The timing couldn't have been better. We're always looking for stuff to do with our kids." Maldonados' nine year old daughter Elizabeth agreed. "Not only do you get to win a prize, but even if you don't win, it lets kids have fun and I enjoy that," she said. Volunteers from base squadrons helped with the event that also featured information booths on eating healthy snacks and one with information on different types of rocks. Shandy Scott, 17th Force Support Squadron, Event Center director said the most popular event was the dunking booth but the bounce house and cake walk ran a close second. "I could tell from the children's laughter that they enjoyed all the festivities," Scott said. "Our staff gets very positive feedback from the families every year." Natalie McCoy, 17th Force Support Squadron, said it was great seeing all the families from every branch and rank playing and having fun. The event which was part of the Month of the Military Child celebrations, celebrated children, who play an important role in supporting the military even though they are not sworn in.
