New Exchange general manager takes the reins at Goodfellow Published March 28, 2012 By Ruby Patino GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Goodfellow newest resident, Juana "Sue" Roy, is ready to make an impact on quality of life here as the Exchange's new General Manager. "I'm extremely excited to be at Goodfellow," said Roy. "Taking care of Airmen and their families is my number one priority. I will strive to ensure their needs are met every time they step foot in the Exchange." Roy comes to Goodfellow from Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where she was Retail Business Manager for the past year. She has 20 years of experience with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and has served at several locations including Fort Sill, Lackland, and Fort Sam Houston. "Much like our customers, I have always been on the move throughout my career," said Roy. "I am anxious to put best practices learned from previous locations to use here at the Goodfellow Exchange to provide a great shopping experience." Making the Goodfellow Exchange the customer's first choice helps the entire community as part of the Exchange's dual mission is to generate earnings which provide a dividend to support MWR Programs. In 2010, Airmen exercising their benefit by dining and shopping on Base generated a dividend of $360,490.59. "These funds are critical to MWR Programs ability to enhance local programs and facilities," said Roy. "As a result, the dollars that Airmen and their families use to shop the Exchange generates a healthy return by directly improving quality of life efforts." The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is a joint command and is directed by a Board of Directors which is responsible to the Secretaries of the Army and the Air Force through the Service Chiefs of Staff. The Exchange has the dual mission of providing authorized patrons with articles of merchandise and services and generating non-appropriated fund earnings as a supplemental source of funding for military morale, welfare and recreation programs.
