National Active and Retired Federal Employees was founded in 1921 and is dedicated to safeguarding and improving the earned rights and benefits of America's active and retired federal employees.

Since then, NARFE has worked tirelessly on behalf of federal workers, retirees, their spouses and survivors. An advocate for both active and retired federal employees before Congress and the White House, NARFE has emerged as a significant force on behalf of the entire federal family.

NARFE is the only association solely dedicated to preserving and improving the health care and retirement benefits of federal workers and retirees.

A team of government relations professionals in Washington, DC, tracks congressional action and agency proposals that affect military federal benefits. NARFE's Legislative Department works simultaneously to preserve and enhance civil service annuity and health care benefits.

NARFE is a national organization with chapters in all 50 states including Panama and Puerto Rico. San Angelo Chapter 273 which has been in existence since 1953 meets the first Saturday of every month 10:30 a.m. at the Rio Concho Manor Recreation Room, 401 Rio Concho Drive.
