Countdown to EXODUS 2011 begins Published Oct. 11, 2011 By 17th Training Wing Public Affairs GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- It's almost that time again! Only two months away from Exodus, the Air Education and Training Command holiday training stand-down. This year's EXODUS begins the evening of Dec. 20 and runs through Jan. 2, 2011. Classes for students will resume Jan. 3. "We hold this wing program to ensure students make it home and return safely from the holidays," said Ginger Moore, 17th Force Support Squadron Community Services Flight Chief. "The Information, Tickets and Travel office in the Event Center can help students, permanent party and even family members find the lowest fares home. The sooner you book a plane ticket, usually the cheaper the price." ITT also has bus tickets to surrounding airports on sale beginning Oct. 14. Much team work has gone into planning this year's event, Moore said. Students will have a wide choice of activities to do while waiting for their buses to depart for the surrounding airports. Check in for Exodus is from 3 - 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Carswell Fitness Center. Students are encouraged to check in their luggage early and enjoy their free time prior to departure. There will be a cook-out at the Crossroads and complimentary food at the Event Center. The library, movie theater, Base Exchange, bowling center and Burger King will have extended hours. "In the past, more than 800 students have participated in this program," Moore said. All students using the airport shuttle service should sign up by Dec. 15. The buses will be leaving and returning to Goodfellow in shifts, so ask the Event Center staff for details or pick up a flyer with all the details. Most establishments and the Crossroads will be open for the students remaining on base over the holidays, but may have reduced hours. The Airman and Family Readiness Center will offer several classes and have movie specials with popcorn.
