Labor Day Message from the Commander Published Sept. 2, 2011 GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- From the 17th Training Wing Commander: Team Goodfellow Labor Day is a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. At the start of this Labor Day weekend, I thank all Team Goodfellow members for their service, dedication, and hard work. As you celebrate the holiday, remember to keep safety in the forefront while enjoying time with friends and family. For the past six years, the Labor Day weekend has averaged almost 15 percent more traffic fatalities than similar four-day periods that don't involve a holiday. Speeding, drunk driving, texting while you are driving ... all are killers! Whatever activities you are participating in, if you're about to do something that doesn't feel quite right, then it likely isn't the smart thing to do! Use your common sense. The bottom line is every member of Team Goodfellow is vital to accomplishing the wing mission. So as you enjoy the remaining days of warm west Texas weather, plan accordingly, assess the risk and take care of your family, your wingman, and your friends. Have a great, safe, enjoyable Labor Day holiday. Colonel Mark Damiano
