AAFES MARVEL COMICS The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is once again joining forces with Marvel Comics to distribute free, military-exclusive comic books at Exchanges around the world, including here at Goodfellow AFB. The 11th issue in the Exchange/Marvel series, titled "The First Avenger," is expected to arrive at the Goodfellow Exchange in August, the free comic book will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. DEERS, ID, CAC SECTION RELOCATED The DEERS/ID/CAC section has been relocated from the Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 145 to the Military Personnel Section in the Norma Brown building, building 430. FMI: (325) 654-1801. To receive a military ID card, two forms of identification are needed; one form of ID must have a photograph. Acceptable forms of ID are: driver's license, social security card, birth certificate, voter registration card, or military/retired ID. Promotion orders are required for those needing a rank change. All documents used for ID purposes cannot be expired; the only exceptions to this are military Common Access Cards and dependent military ID cards. CLEP AND DSST TESTS The Wayland Baptist University National Test Center will offer both CLEP and DSST tests Wednesdays at 5 p.m., and Thursdays at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. FMI: (325) 654-3314. FAMILY CHILD CARE PROGRAM The Family Child Care Program affords providers the opportunity to stay at home with their own children while providing a positive experience for children whose parents must work in the community or on Goodfellow. INSTALLATION TEEN COUNCIL The Youth Center is organizing an Installation Teen Council for youths in grades 9-11. Participants are not required to be Youth Center members to be on the council. Council objectives include: to hearing the opinions of Air Force teens on issues affecting youth; establishing a method for Air Force teens to share viewpoints on issues they are most concerned about; to communicate Air Force teen opinions to leadership; resolve issues and be positive agents of change; and to reach out in meaningful ways to youths who do not utilize Air Force Youth Programs. LANGUAGE ENABLED AIRMAN PROGRAM SELECTION BOARD Active-duty officers, and graduating ROTC and Air Force Academy cadets, can apply now for the Air Force Culture and Language Center's Language Enabled Airman Program. MILITARY SAVES PROGRAM Military Saves is a Defense Department-wide financial readiness campaign to persuade people affiliated with the military to reduce debt and save money. Military Saves encourages people to develop a personal financial plan, establish good credit, save a portion of each paycheck, enroll in the Service members' Group Life Insurance, the Thrift Savings Plan and the Savings Deposit Program. The program is open to all active duty, National Guard and Reserve service members, Defense Department and Coast Guard civilians, retirees, veterans, Defense contractors and family member of all ages. PRT AIR FORCE COMMANDERS' INSIGNIA There are now six Provincial Reconstruction Team command positions in Afghanistan that have been designated as command-equivalent organizations, which now allows PRT/CCs to wear the Air Force Commanders' Insignia. Prior commanders of PRTs (since 2006) are approved for retroactive wear of the insignia. The insignia is not authorized for wear on the Airman Battle Uniform, but can be worn on all Air Force dress uniforms. General eligibility are: an officer serving at or below the grade of colonel, assigned or previously assigned as the commander of a squadron, group or wing or an equivalent organization as determined by the major command commander and approved by CSAF; officers must serve at least one continuous year as a commander in order to be awarded permanent wear of the command insignia; equivalency is based on UCMJ authority and a competitive hiring process. All catalogs, magazines and newspapers. Shredded paper must be in tied plastic bags. Newspapers and all inserts cannot have strings or plastic straps. Privacy Act material can only be placed in gray locked bins. No carbons accepted. Plastic: Plastic containers #1 and #2 only (all colors). Plastic PETE #1(soft drink and juice bottles) and HDPE #2 (milk jugs and some laundry detergent bottles). Remove and discard all caps and lids. Look for the recycle triangle at the bottom of the container for the plastic type. Cardboard and Packaging Material: Corrugated boxes, brown paper and packaging paper used in household moves must be placed in the cardboard dumpsters located throughout the bas. No pizza boxes. Glass: No caps or lids. Aluminum Cans: Beverage cans only. Rinse cans thoroughly. No scrap metal, aerosol cans or pie pans. FMI: (325) 654-3375. SBP is a non-profit annuity program administered by the government. Coverage is free while the member remains on active duty. After retirement, monthly premiums are held in the Military Retirement System Trust Fund and benefits are paid to eligible survivors from that fund. As a result, the retiree has the assurance of a well-managed program without having to pay administrative expenses. Prior to retiring, service members will have an opportunity to enroll in the SBP. UPDATED WING PLANS Energy & Water Management: A revised Goodfellow Facility Energy and Water Management Plan has been placed on the Goodfellow page in Air Force Portal. This plan provides guidance on how the wing intends to meet the goals set forth by Executive Order 13423, and outlines energy and water conservation methods to be employed at Goodfellow. The new plan is dated Dec. 3, 2010, and supersedes the July 28, 2009 plan. Environmental Management: An updated Goodfellow Environmental Management Plan, dated May 2011, is now available. The plan provides environmental management guidance in a wide variety of environmental compliance and pollution prevention topics to satisfy Air Force, local, state and federal regulatory requirements. YELLOW CARD PROGRAM AT CLINIC Patients at the clinic are required to have a Yellow Card indicating if they have other health insurance when picking up prescriptions.
