Congratulations to the 517th Training Group for the "Excellent" rating they received from Air Education and Training Command during their Compliance Inspection last week! As with all inspections, it was a team effort. It also validated the terrific job our Airmen do at Monterey on a daily basis.

Goodfellow's CI is scheduled for Nov. 14 - 20, just 17 short weeks away, and will bring in more than 100 inspectors. Being ready for a CI should take just a little extra time out of your daily routine. If you take time every day to look at your programs, use checklists and self inspect, your programs should be in good order. The intent is not to create mass chaos a few weeks before the inspection, but to ensure we are following instructions year round.

The base has already been preparing for the CI with monthly exercises and debriefs. Our own exercise evaluation team has been attentively inspecting all players to ensure objectives are met. Continue to use your checklists and get another set of eyes to look at your programs.

The inspection team will be looking for many types of violations of Air Force Instructions. The following is not an all inclusive list, but are several deficiencies identified at other installations that have recently been through a CI: hands in pockets of uniforms, eating and drinking while walking, sunglasses on top of head, mirrored sunglasses, hair not in standards, unauthorized backpacks, talking while marching, not performing column movements when marching in formation, disrespect to our National Anthem, and running with both earphones in ears at an unauthorized location.

Some other things to remember when preparing for, and during, the inspection:

Keep the base clean.
If you see trash while you are walking around the base, please pick it up. Don't leave it for someone else. Keep your work centers neat and orderly. This will give the inspectors a positive first impression.

Have a positive attitude.
Don't be confrontational when the inspectors come in to your work area, be enthusiastic and professional. Show them how well you know your job. Speak with confidence, not cockiness.

Know your programs.
During the inspection is not the time to dig into the Air Force Instructions. Inspectors are here to ensure your unit is meeting mission requirements. Show them you have nothing to hide. They want you to succeed.

To help you better prepare for the upcoming inspection, the Goodfellow Monitor as well as Goodfellow's website will continue to publish a CI Tip of the Week.

Congratulations again to the 517th! They have set the standard for the entire wing. There are only 17 weeks left until our CI. Are you ready?
