You Are Responsible: Sponsoring Visitors to Goodfellow Published May 27, 2011 By Mr. Dave Kerry 17th Security Forces Squadron GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- There are only two authorized ways for someone without an ID card to get on base: escorted and unescorted. Either way, the sponsor has ultimate responsibility for visitors while on base. All visitors 18 years of age or older must possess a federal or state issued photo identification card while on base or they will not be allowed entry. The preferred method for visitors to gain access to the base is via an ID card holding escort. Escorted visitors do not require passes written at the entry control point or Visitor Control Center. The authorized ID card holding sponsor must be at least 16 years of age and must be with the person to allow entry to the base. They will verbally vouch for the visitor and remain with them at all times while on base, to include in and out the gate. Sponsors found to have violated escort procedures may be subject to legal or administrative action. When it is impractical for the sponsor to remain with the visitor at all times while on base, the sponsor may request a base pass for the visitor at the entry control point or Visitor Control Center. The sponsor must be present at the entry control point or Visitor Control Center in order to sponsor the visitor. The visitor must present a government issued state or federal ID with photo. A criminal background check will be completed by Security Forces prior to issuing a pass. In addition, at times Security Forces may not require all occupants to present identification. Defenders may allow one person per vehicle to present an authorized identification card and vouch for up to five occupants in that vehicle. If in multiple vehicles, someone in each vehicle must have authorized base entry credentials and vouch for that vehicle's occupants. The exception to this is that all occupants of commercial transport vehicles (taxis, Red Ball, etc) will present identification prior to being allowed entry. Security Forces have the right to require any and all personnel to present identification at any time. A hundred percent ID checks will not be advertised, but rather Security Forces will ask for compliance when required. Contact Security Forces at (325) 654-5905 if you have questions about this policy.
